Pandit Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, in a place called Allahabad. He came from a special family, and his dad was named Pandit Motilal Nehru, while his mom was Swaroop Rani.
One big thing to know about him is that he played a huge role in India’s fight for freedom. The British rulers didn’t like what he was doing to help India become free, so they put him in jail nine different times. Can you imagine that? He spent nine whole years of his life in jail because he wanted India to be free!
While he was in jail one time, he wrote a book called “Toward Freedom.” It’s like a story about his life and the struggle for India’s freedom. It’s an interesting book to read.
After India finally became free from British rule, Pandit Nehru became our first Prime Minister. He worked hard to make our country better and more modern. That’s why some people call him “The Architect of Modern India.”
